Job Description

Position Summary

The Physician Liaison serves as the primary relationship manager between the orthopedic ambulatory surgery center (ASC) and referring physicians, medical practices, hospital partners, and community stakeholders. This role is responsible for driving referral growth, enhancing communication, supporting surgeons’ outreach initiatives, and promoting the ASC’s services to external providers. The Physician Liaison ensures an exceptional experience for referring offices and helps strengthen the ASC’s reputation in the Denver orthopedic community.

Key Responsibilities

Referral Development & Outreach

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians, practice managers, and clinical staff.
  • Conduct regular outreach visits, calls, and follow-ups to strengthen referral channels and identify new opportunities.
  • Promote the ASC’s orthopedic service lines, surgical capabilities, and care pathways to external providers.
  • Track referral trends and provide insights to leadership regarding growth opportunities and potential concerns.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for referring practices regarding scheduling, services, and operational questions.

Communication & Support

  • Ensure timely, clear communication between referring providers and the ASC’s clinical/administrative teams.
  • Coordinate updates about new surgeons, procedures, technology, and service offerings.
  • Address issues raised by referring practices, resolve concerns promptly, and escalate items when needed.
  • Partner with ASC leadership to develop consistent outreach messaging and provider education materials.

Market Awareness & Strategy

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and orthopedic practice developments in the Denver region.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership on opportunities for expansion, partnerships, or targeted outreach.
  • Support strategic initiatives related to business development, surgeon recruitment, and service line growth.

Data Tracking & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed logs of outreach activity, referral volume, and engagement metrics.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports summarizing referral trends, physician feedback, and market insights.
  • Utilize CRM or internal systems to document interactions, identify patterns, and measure return on outreach efforts.

Event & Program Support

  • Coordinate physician education events, community outreach sessions, and open houses for referring providers.
  • Assist with marketing materials, newsletters, and updates for external audiences.
  • Support onboarding and integration activities for newly added surgeons.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in physician relations, healthcare outreach, business development, or ASC/orthopedic operations strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of orthopedic surgery, ambulatory surgery center workflows, and referral processes is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse physician groups and office staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM platforms is beneficial.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and comfortable working in a field‑based role.
