Job Description

We are seeking a friendly, organized Optician / Office Manager to join our optical practice. This role combines optical dispensing expertise with front office management to ensure excellent patient care and smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, has strong attention to detail, and can manage both patient services and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Optician Duties

• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses based on prescription, lifestyle, and personal style.

• Take accurate measurements including pupillary distance and optical center.

• Adjust, repair, and fit eyewear for comfort and optimal vision.

• Verify prescriptions and coordinate lens orders with optical laboratories.

• Educate patients on lens options such as progressive lenses, coatings, and specialty lenses.

Office Management Duties

• Manage daily front office operations including scheduling appointments and greeting patients.

• Maintain patient records and ensure accurate data entry.

• Verify insurance eligibility and assist patients with benefits and billing questions.

• Process payments and manage basic office bookkeeping.

• Maintain inventory of frames, lenses, and supplies.

• Coordinate with vendors and labs.

• Train and supervise front desk staff as needed.

• Ensure a welcoming, efficient environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Optician, Optical Sales Associate, or Optical Technician preferred.

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• Knowledge of optical measurements, lens types, and frame adjustments.

• Experience with insurance verification and medical office scheduling systems preferred.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced patient care environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• ABO certification (or willingness to obtain).

• Previous experience managing or supervising a small office.

• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
