Job Description

Marine Electricians

Location: Mobile, AL
Schedule: Full-Time | Overtime Available
Pay: Competitive; based on relevant experience and technical skill

Genesis Industrial Staffing is hiring skilled Marine Electricians for a long-term opportunity supporting vessel maintenance, repair, upgrades, and electrical installation work in the Mobile area.

We are looking for electricians who are comfortable working around vessels and industrial marine systems—not candidates whose background is limited to residential wiring or basic commercial work. The right person will be able to identify issues, work from drawings, complete clean installations, and take ownership of their work from start to finish.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems aboard vessels and marine equipment.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of both low- and higher-voltage AC/DC circuits using appropriate test equipment.
  • Read electrical prints, wiring diagrams, one-line drawings, and technical work instructions.
  • Install and terminate cable; route wiring through wireways, trays, and raceways; complete clean labeling and dressing of cables.
  • Work on vessel power distribution, control systems, lighting, alarms, motors, pumps, generators, and associated electrical components.
  • Assist with installation and troubleshooting of motor starters, variable frequency drives, control panels, switchboards, distribution panels, and shore power connections.
  • Diagnose electrical issues involving steering systems, machinery alarms, fire detection, deck equipment, compressors, and other vessel-support systems.
  • Mount and secure electrical equipment and components as required.
  • Perform work in accordance with site safety rules, quality expectations, and assigned production schedules.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks while communicating effectively with supervisors and other craft personnel.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven hands-on electrical experience in a marine, shipyard, industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, offshore, or vessel-service setting.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability with AC/DC electrical systems, motors, controls, and power distribution equipment.
  • Experience working with electrical panels, generators, pumps, lighting, alarms, cable systems, starters, VFDs, and related equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical prints and complete work with minimal day-to-day direction.
  • Comfortable using meters and electrical testing tools to identify faults and verify completed repairs.
  • Dependable work history, good safety awareness, and pride in clean, quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work in an industrial waterfront environment and meet the physical demands of the job, including climbing, bending, lifting, and working in tight or elevated areas.

Candidates with vessel electrical repair, tugboat, barge, offshore, shipyard, industrial controls, or heavy-equipment electrical experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
