Job Description

Job Summary

NAMI Tennessee Program Coordinator, a position based out of our Hendersonville office. They will provide oversight for NAMI signature programs including Connection Recovery Support Group, Family Support Group, Peer-to-Peer, Family-to-Family Ending the Silence, NAMI Basics, In Our Own Voices, and other programs. A brief description of each program can be found on NAMI.org.

 

This individual will follow national protocols and leadership training to become proficient as a NAMI Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator is responsible for two primary functions: Recruitment and Training of Presenters & Coordination of Presenters and Presentation Opportunities.

 

Job Responsibilities

Volunteer Outreach

All programs have specific annual goals for training new volunteers. Goals are accomplished by arranging 5 training courses per year, per program. This includes:

 

  • Work with NAMI Tennessee staff and local affiliate/support group leadership to identify recruit and screen new volunteers. (program leaders)
  • Assist training participants through the training portal for pre-requisite webinar training and Zoom training with State Trainers.
  • Training will be performed in accordance with procedures established by Director, Program & Innovation, and NAMI Tennessee.
  • Maintain Volunteer Databases.
  • Participate in regional, state and national meetings (phone and web-based) pertaining to these programs and other NAMI Tennessee programs.
  • Market programs and other appropriate NAMI Tennessee programs to the broader community.

NAMI Tennessee Affiliate Support

  • Respond to calls and emails within established timeframes.
  • Manage, maintain, and update contact lists and scheduled events
  • Engagement of Technical Assistance (TA) support to assist with data entry and data technology-related tasks.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, high school equivalency or at least two years of paid or volunteer work experience serving as mental health advocate.
  • Experience in office setting in a collaborative team model.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a talent to give constructive feedback to volunteers.
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preference given to individuals familiar with the TN public mental health service system and/or Tennessee public education system.
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license.
  • Occasional in-state travel.
